Tracy Potter was born in Bismarck, graduated from UND with B.A and M.A. degrees in History. He taught school; worked in the state Insurance Department; state Tourism Office; and ran the non-profit Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation while serving in the Senate. Author of Sheheke: Mandan Indian Diplomat and Steamboats in Dakota Territory. Tracy and Laura Anhalt have been married 43 years.
